Nick LaLota, a U.S. Congressman representing New York's 1st district, shared his thoughts on various issues through a series of tweets posted on February 13, 2025. The congressman, who took office in 2023 after succeeding Lee Zeldin, addressed topics ranging from historical figures to contemporary political challenges.

On February 13, LaLota commemorated Abraham Lincoln’s birthday by highlighting the former president's influence on American governance and unity. He tweeted: "Today, on Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, we honor a leader whose unwavering commitment to unity and freedom shaped our nation. His dedication to a government 'of the people, by the people, for the people' continues to inspire us."

Later that day, LaLota referenced a survey indicating strong support among New Yorkers for deporting criminal illegal aliens. He explained his vote for the Laken Riley Act with the tweet: "A recent survey shows nearly 8 in 10 New Yorkers support deporting criminal illegal aliens. That’s why I voted for the Laken Riley Act—to detain and deport those who commit crimes like theft and burglary while here illegally."

In another post on February 13, LaLota criticized policies he views as contributing to New York City's migrant crisis. He attributed these issues to "Biden’s open-border policies" and "the city’s sanctuary laws," urging changes in policy: "NYC’s migrant crisis is the direct result of Biden’s open-border policies and the city’s sanctuary laws—draining resources and threatening public safety."
