Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, New York, has received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification. This certification reflects the hospital's commitment to maintaining high standards in patient care.
The certification process, conducted in collaboration with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, evaluates a range of factors from pre-surgical consultations to post-operative follow-ups. Mather Hospital underwent a detailed review on January 29-30, 2025, where compliance with certification standards was assessed through observations and interviews.
Ken Grubbs from The Joint Commission commented on the recognition: “Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification recognizes healthcare organizations committed to striving for excellence and fostering continuous improvement in patient safety and quality of care.” He praised Mather Hospital for its efforts to enhance clinical processes and improve patient care.

Michael Fracchia added that Mather surgeons have been pioneers in robotic-assisted total knee replacements since 2001.
