Neuroscientist Anthony Zador, MD, PhD, is set to deliver the 27th annual Swartz Foundation Mind Brain Lecture on March 31 at Stony Brook University. The event will take place at 4 pm on the Main Stage of the Staller Center and will be accessible to a general audience free of charge. Additionally, the lecture will be available via livestream at stonybrook.edu/live.

Dr. Zador holds the position of Alle Davis Harris Professor of Biology at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and has previously chaired its Neuroscience department. His work focuses on the intersection between neuroscience and artificial intelligence (AI).

The Mind Brain Lecture Series is organized by Stony Brook’s Department of Neurobiology and Behavior with support from the Swartz Foundation, which initiated this series in 1997.

The upcoming lecture titled "A Neuroscientist’s Guide to Artificial Intelligence" will delve into how AI has progressed over recent years, particularly in language mastery and protein structure solutions. These advancements stem from decades-long efforts in neural networks where neuroscience concepts have significantly influenced AI developments.

Dr. Zador aims to discuss how reverse engineering brain computations has propelled both neuroscience and AI forward. He emphasizes that this reciprocal relationship is poised for further growth: "brain-inspired designs driving new AI advances while AI tools transform our understanding of how the brain works."
