Assemblyman Joe DeStefano has been appointed as an alternate member of the New York State Assembly Budget Transportation Committee. This role will enable him to address transportation and infrastructure issues affecting Long Island and the broader state.
“I am honored to serve as an alternate on the Transportation Committee and to have the opportunity to advocate for critical infrastructure improvements, public safety measures and investments that will benefit residents and businesses alike,” DeStefano stated. He emphasized the unique transportation challenges faced by Long Island, such as roadway congestion and the need for better public transit options. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to advance policies that ensure safer, more efficient travel for all New Yorkers.”
In his new position, DeStefano will participate in discussions about significant transportation initiatives, including road and bridge repairs, funding for public transit, and safety enhancements. His advocacy experience for Long Island communities is expected to help represent local priorities in statewide transportation decisions.
