Brookhaven Town Supervisor Daniel J. Panico announced that Suffolk Credit Union will serve as a sponsor for the 2025 Town of Brookhaven Recycling Events. The announcement came during a recent presentation where Panico, joined by members of the Town Council, accepted a $5,000 check from Suffolk Credit Union to support thirteen recycling events throughout the town. These events offer residents opportunities to safely dispose of electronic waste, shred documents, and recycle unused prescription medications. New this year, participants can also recycle cardboard.

Suffolk Credit Union joins Gershow Recycling, Maggio Environmental, LLC, and Winters Bros. – A WM Company as sponsors, each contributing $5,000 to the initiative. During the check presentation, Supervisor Panico expressed gratitude, stating, "These events are about making responsible recycling easy and accessible for every Brookhaven resident. We’re thankful to Suffolk Credit Union and our partners for helping bring these important services directly into our communities."

The events are open to all residents, providing a convenient way for the community to engage in environmentally responsible practices. More details about the events can be found on the Town of Brookhaven's official website.

Notable attendees at the check presentation included Councilman Neil Manzella, Councilwoman Karen Dunne Kesnig, Zachary Sicardi, Christine Fetten, Councilwoman Jane Bonner, Suffolk Credit Union Vice Chairman Frank Trotta, Laura Racioppi, Supervisor Dan Panico, Councilmember Jonathan Kornreich, and Councilman Michael Loguercio.

The special recycling events are scheduled across various locations in the town, with detailed dates and times listed for specific council districts. Driving participation and promoting sustainability remain key goals for the initiative.
